What's NEW at Capture!

As you have probably heard (or seen) by now, we have made some VERY big changes at Capture! We decided to stick with what we do best and streamline our company. We're now only selling our fabulous kits, both online and from our workspace in the Scrap 2 It store here in Ft. Collins! 

Miss seeing our smiling faces, or do you miss putting our kits together with your friends? Don't worry, you'll have an opportunity for just that every Thursday evening from 6-8pm at our Capture Kit Club located here in our workspace at Scrap 2 It! No registration necessary, just bring your basic scrapbook tools (adhesive, scissors, distress ink, journaling pens & foam squares) and a friend and you can choose from a wide variety of kits to assemble!

If you haven't stopped in to see us yet, this weekend would be the perfect opportunity! We're participating in the World Card Making Day Shop Hop with Scrap 2 It, Artsy and A Scrapin' Place! Visit each store to make one of these fun cards (and be eligible to win one of four clear card & envelope sets from Clear Scraps!):

Visit all 4 locations and you'll be entered in a drawing for $60 in gift cards!

As an added bonus, if you participate in the Shop Hop at Capture or Scrap 2 It, you'll get a 10% discount on this spook-tacular Halloween Card set!

If you like crafting with friends, (and really, who doesn't?) then be sure to come to the first ever Capture/Scrap 2 It Crop night Friday, Oct. 12th! We'll be co-hosting this fun filled night with Ranea from Scrap 2 It, and seats are limited so be sure to register!

This is a two day event going on Saturday, March 31st through Sunday, April 1st.You'll find some AWESOME deals on scrapbooking, card making, paper crafting and other craft supplies from our many sellers, including a Cricut Expression that comes with three cartridges! Doors open at 10:00am on Saturday.


If you've been following our Facebook Fan Page, you've probably noticed our Fan Of The Week that posts every Thursday afternoon. Tips & Techniques: Glimmer Mist

As promised on our Facebook Fan Page, today I will show you the mystery embellishment I used to make Easter grass on our upcoming Easter Pages (Saturday, March 17th from 1-3pm).

Here's what the pages look like:

I wanted something that looked like Easter grass for the basket, but I didn't want to use the plastic Easter grass on my pages. So I grabbed some "Basket, Box & Bag Shred" in white and some Glimmer Mist in Key Lime and got to work!



After putting down a tablecloth to protect my work surface, I took a small handful of the shred and sprayed it generously with the Glimmer Mist. (I had to use a handful since I needed to make enough for all the kits, but for just one project you'll only need a few strands.)  I flipped it over and sprayed the other side, then sort of "tossed" it around like you would a salad to make sure it got nice and mixed in. You might even spray it a couple more times just to make sure it's mostly green, but again I was working in a larger batch.



I spread it out to let it dry before putting it on my page. To adhere it, I put a couple strips of Tacky Tape down (glue dots would work as well! Anything that's super sticky!) and smooshed it into the tape. Then I used foam squares to adhere my eggs and basket.



Another fun way to use Glimmer Mist is called the Resist technique. Basically you put ink or Glimmer Mist over an embossed image, so that the embossed part stays white (or whatever color it was originally) and the ink sticks to everything else.

Here I used some white embossed Easter egg paper:



I sprayed it first with a pink mist (S.W.A.K. to be exact)...




...and then immediately wiped off the excess with a paper towel:



I repeated those same two steps with Key Lime and Daffodil:




This was the end result:



It reminded me of dying Easter eggs. :) It also looks like tie-dye!

You can get the same effect by stamping an image in Versamark ink and embossing it with clear embossing powder. Then just ink or spray over the embossed image and wipe off the excess.

That's it! Hope you have fun playing with some Glimmer Mist! Just a warning, you will get a bit dirty, but it's worth it! :)
